The one thing all we have is the freedom to tell our own story. Home is a story you carry on your back is our flagship storytelling program where migrants can share, practice, and perform traditional stories from their home countries. In doing so, they develop their voice that they bring to the wider creative community of Amsterdam. The storytelling course becomes a community space that tellers use to develop as artists on their own terms. Several past students are now in-demand speakers at events in Amsterdam.

The course is devised and run by Simon Hodges, director and founder of Storyourself, in close collaboration with ASKV and the students themselves. In March and April 2023 the course took place for the fourth time. 
Storytelling will remain an important part of the ASKV Embassy in the future, but there a no dates planned yet for a future course.
