This is MDT de Ambassade
As an ambassador, you’ll work on your own story and share it with other youngsters. You’ll follow a training program and together with other youngsters, you’ll make an impact by organizing a social activity.
Your MDT journey
Month 1
Train and develop your story and talents
You’ll start by working on your own story. During two classes, you’ll learn how to use your story to build bridges and engage in conversations. You also develop and discover your talents.
The training program:
- 1 class about your core values and how to write a poem.
- 1 class about storytelling: how to make an impact with your own story
- A fun activity with all other ambassadors to get to know each other
Month 2
Meet and guide other youngsters in their journey
Now that your story has taken shape and you’ve worked on your talents, you’ll start mentoring other youngsters. They too will write their own poem and will work on their talents. Also you get to know each other. They often don’t know or haven’t met people with a refugee background or know much about your home country and/or culture.
Month 3
Organize a social activity
Together you’ll make an impact by organizing a social activity.
Month 4
The final event
Your journey ends with a final event where you’ll present or execute your activity and all the poems will be presented. The final event is all about connection and celebrating our stories and backgrounds.

Duration: 4 months, 80 hours in total, weekly on Wednesday or Friday

About MDT
MDT (Maatschappelijke Diensttijd) offers young people between 12 and 30 years old the chance to develop their talents, meet people outside their immediate environment, and do something for others and/or society over a period of weeks to months. Young people for example organize sports activities in the neighborhood or act as buddies for lonely elderly people. MDT helps young people find their place in society and increases their social engagement.
MDT de Ambassade is a youth program of ASKV in collaboration with MDT, stichting Reclame Maken Voor Jezelf en stichting CINOP | ECIO.
